The Home improvement company will stop purchasing and selling any carpets or rugs containing the toxic by the end of the year” This Tuesday, Home Depot said it would no longer purchase carpeting treated with PFAS chemicals.  Poly-fluorinated substance (PFAS), used in the making of non-stick surfaces for cookware, stain repellent for carpets, firefighting foams, and fire retardants for verities of home products, studies shown PFAS to pose a potential risk for testicular cancers. Decreased birth weight, thyroid disease, asthma and ulcerative colitis. Taking PFAS chemical out of carpets eliminates one important source of PFAS in the indoor environment,” said Jeff Gearhart.

    Just like sodium in our diets, potential environmental hazards can and are easily hidden within products one might consider to be safe.
